Staff and members at Dalry's MRC Fitness Studio celebrated the gym's 40th anniversary at the weekend.

And what better way to mark the occasion than a bootcamp event.

Club members came out in force to join in the fun and games, joined by the founders Malcolm and Helen Clark.

They formed MRC Fitness back in 1984 in the basement of their home, finally moving to their larger current premises in 1996.

Malcolm, a former competitor bodybuilder, wanted to have a gym where the ordinary person could feel good about themselves and make going to the gym part of their lifestyle.

This continues to be the philosophy of Malcolm’s daughter, Lorraine Wallace, who has been the owner since 2012, along with her general manager Stuart Clayton.

Lorraine said: "We had 40 male and female members working on four disciplines and everyone managed it. The participants were aged from 16 to 76.

"I'd like to say a huge thanks to all former and current members for supporting us for 40 years in a small town like Dalry.

"We couldn't do it without the support of the members. It was a great day and so many came along to support us on Sunday."
