A STEVENSTON street has been closed off after police swarmed the area to investigate an "ongoing incident" this afternoon.
New Street, close to the town's Glencairn Primary School, has been cordoned off and Police Scotland say the incident followed a report of "concern for a person".
No further details yet have been revealed by the authorities.
Sources initially told the Herald they believed a man may have been holding a woman hostage at a property just off New Street, however that remains unconfirmed
