ARMED officers rushed to a Saltcoats road yesterday (Tuesday) after shots were fired in a street filled with schoolchildren.
Police closed off New England Road at around 3.55pm after reports of shots being fired.
A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police confirmed armed officers were dispatched to the scene as the drama unfolded.
