Tree saves OAP after embankment fall

AN 85-year-old was found clinging for her life to a tree after falling down a 30 foot embankment above the River Garnock in Kilwinning.

The elderly woman stumbled down a steep slope opposite Buckreddan Care Home after dropping some shopping. However she luckily managed to grab onto a tree which stopped her falling into the fast-flowing water below.
