The image taken by David Kerr, first published in November.

AN attempt to take the same picture of the ghost captured on Saltcoats shorefront in November has failed - but readers still believe there is more to the image than meets the eye.

David Kerr, of Ardrossan, first captured the ghostly image on November 25 and has taken great interest in hearing our readers opinions. So much so that last week he went down to the shorefront at the exact same time to see if he could reproduce the same picture.

He explained: 'This photograph has certainly been a hot topic. Everyone has been talking about it and I am extremely interested to hear what people think it is.

'I wanted to see if I could capture the ghost again and stopped in the exact same bit I took the first one and at the exact same time. The only thing that was different from the fisrt attempt was the sky colour.

'When I took the picture nothing seemed to show up. I took it home and blew the imagine up on my computer but there was nothing there. It certainly is odd.'

Reader Amanda McMahon emailed us this week with her explanation: 'When I looked at the picture I couldn"t see what Steven McLean had drawn in the previous week"s paper but I could see a smiling baby and I thought may be the picture had been on a polaroid and the ghost picture had been taken over by a previous picture. I am not sure but it could be a reasonable explanation.'

David, however, doesn"t think that is possible. 'I took the picture on my digital camera so there is no way there is a polaroid imagine on it,' he added.

'I also made a point of taking it to an independent printing shop so that the picture would come out clear. However, I have opened up a photography unit in Irvine and I have the picture from the Herald on display. Several people have said that they thought they saw a woman holding a baby, so may be that is what she is seeing.'

David has sent the original photograph to a psychic in Birmingham to see if they can find out more about the ghost or ghosts in the picture and will be receiving the results in the next few weeks.
