Saltcoats and Stevenston both fail marine test
SALTCOATS and Stevenston have both failed to reach this year"s clean beach standards - and North Ayrshire has been put on a list of beaches which are "notably suffering".
The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) has announced that out of 109 sCOTTISH beaches tested only 41 will be included in their 2009 good beach guide.
The results for Saltcoats and Stevenston come as a blow after they both passed the test last year and were said to have excellent water quality for bathing.
North Ayrshire was included in the "notably suffering" areas because it is one of the worst hit areas in terms of bad weather.
