Deadly haul discovered after police sting
THE owner of a Saltcoats shop has been hit with a heavy fine after a police sting operation found deadly weapons for sale.
Police carried out a successful test purchase of a disguised knife at the Handyman business premises on May 7 this year.
A warrant was then granted. The following week a search was carried out and several weapons were recovered.
The owner was reported to the procurator fiscal and three charges were brought against the accused including offering for sale Kusari (a weighted short-chain weapon), Shuriken (traditional concealed Japanese sword) and also selling a disguised knife.
The accused appeared in court where he was found guilty and charged a total of £1800 - £600 for each offence.
