THE vacant former Bute Service Centre in Ardrossan was a hive of activity last week as two major acting stars and a big-budget production descended on Ardrossan.

Tiger Aspect Productions is making a thriller called The Deep, which stars James Nesbitt, Minnie Driver and ER's Goran Visnjic.

The five-part thriller will be shown on BBC 1 later this year and is set thousands of feet below the Arctic ice, although filming is taking place all over Scotland.
