Incident left area cordoned-off for three hours

Two men aged 18 and 22 were arrested and detained after an inicident which led to Ardrossan's Glasgow Street being sealed off for three hours.

Saltcoats Police told the Herald that a witness walking along the road at about 5.40am heard what he believed to be an airgun pellet striking a fence behind him.

He went on his way but about b30 seconds later says he believes he heard an airgun being fired, before feeling what he described as a stinging pain in his elbow.
