Gas blast drama

A HOUSEHOLDER had a lucky escape on Tuesday evening when a gas explosion blew out his living room windows.

Amid dramatic scenes, Wellpark Road in Saltcoats was cordoned-off and properties round about evacuated while the emergency services ensured that the street was safe.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Fire & Rescue said that they had been alerted at around 5.30pm.
