A NORTH Ayrshire advice service has been presented with a national award by the Provost on behalf of the Scottish Government.

Provost Pat McPhee presented North Ayrshire Citizens Advice Service (NACAS) with the Scottish National Standards for Information & Advice award at a ceremony at the Saltcoats Citizens Advice Bureau on Wednesday, July 28.

The service was recognised for the standards of advice given on issues concerning welfare benefits, money and debt, as well as housing.

Given the current economic climate, the service have experienced significant increases in the numbers of people contacting them, particularly with debt-related enquiries. For this reason, NACAS are appealing for more volunteers from the area to help out with the service.
