A WORKER’S union are calling for a second North Ayrshire councillor to resign over the local authority’s policy on staff absences from work.
The Herald reported earlier in the month that the GMB Union was calling for Councillor Matthew Brown to resign, branding him a hypocrite for supporting an allegedly tough employee absence policy, while having been absent himself from council business on 12 occassions since April 2009.
Now the union - who represent many NAC employees - are similarly calling for Councillor Ryan Oldfather (Scottish Labour, Kilwinning) to consider his position, pointing to Cllr’s Oldfather’s alleged 22 absences from council business over an unspecified period.
