CHAOS hit Dalry town centre on Saturday afternoon when 40 residents were left without power and traffic came to a complete standstill.
The disruption was caused in and around Townend Street where Scottish Power were carrying out work and had to intervene when they were informed of an emergency cable fault in the area. The fault then spread to affect the temporary traffic lights put up by Scottish Power, which became stuck on red for a period of time, preventing traffic from moving through the town.
Scottish Power reported that around 40 customers had to be taken off the electricity supply at 3.50pm and were re-connected around 6pm.
A spokesperson for Scottish Power commented: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers in Dalry on Saturday and can confirm that we have now completed our work in the town.”
