DOG walkers were reminded of the importance of scooping their dog’s poop at Ardrossan South Beach recently.

North Ayrshire Council teamed up with Keep Scotland Beautiful for National Poop Scoop Week which saw around 50 free doggy bags handed out to dog owners who were reminded by representatives from Strathclyde Police and North Ayrshire Mobile CCTV that they face fixed penalties of £40 for failing to clean up properly after their pets.

A spokesperson for North Ayrshire Council commented: “The event was a great success with officers and Keep Scotland Beautiful staff speaking to the public and handing out free bags and leaflets. The public were also informed of the dangers of dog fouling as well as the unsightly mess it creates.”
