A SALTCOATS supermarket are calling for customers to donate their old mobile phone chargers as part of the store’s ongoing environmental campaigns.

Sainsbury’s in Saltcoats have placed recycling banks specifically for mobile phone charges in the store from July 31 and hope to collect and recycle over 150,000 chargers over the four week campaign.

With around 20 million chargers discarded in homes throughout Britain and a further one million additional chargers entering the country each year, the Saltcoats store - as part of its Make the Difference Day - are hoping that customers will support its drive to encourage the recycling of these items.
