“AN absolute disgrace - he’s got away with it.”

That was the verdict of one of the victims of Ardrossan stalker Noel McWhinnie after the 52-year-old walked from court despite admitting a string of bizarre offences.

“It’s sickening”, added the woman, who asked us not to name her.

“This guy made several women’s lives a misery for four years and he gets away scot-free. What a disgrace.”

In fact Hunterston nuclear power station technician McWhinnie, of Montfode Drive, was ordered to carry out 125 hours’ community service and was put on probation for a year after he admitted placing three women, all in their twenties, in a state of fear and alarm by following them, staring at them and harassing them in Asda’s Ardrossan supermarket, Saltcoats town centre and at Rivergate and Glencairn retail parks in Irvine and Kilmarnock between January 2006 and February this year.
