EMERGENCY services were called out to Kilbirnie on Monday night after a dog scaled a wall and found itself trapped on the banks of the River Garnock.

Strathclyde Fire & Rescue say that they were alerted to the situation at around 7pm by police officers who found the dog - known locally as 'Buster' - on the banks of the river on the wrong side of a 15ft wall. It is thought that the dog had jumped over the wall from the other side where it is not as high and found itself trapped on the river banks, unable the scale the lofty heights of the river wall.
