Fire service hits out at council

FIREFIGHTERS have hit out after it took North Ayrshire Council several MONTHS to act after they raised concerns over a safety hazard at a block of flats in Saltcoats.

After visiting Sydney Street and carrying out a home fire safety visit on an individual listed on Strathclyde Fire and Rescue's vulnerable person's register, fire chiefs noticed a large pile of dumped furniture at the rear of the property which they considered a serious fire hazard. Ardrossan's Station Commander Derek Davidson told councillors that he then spent months contacting different NAC departments asking them to uplift the waste.
