Bitter dispute rages on over Mitie pay levels

UNION bosses have this week insisted that North Ayrshire Council's contracted employees should be entitled to the same pay deal secured for the council's own workers.

The GMB Union say that NAC's contractor, Mitie PFI, is refusing to pay the £7.15 per hour Living Wage that the council agreed to introduce in February. NAC told the Herald this week that it would be "inappropriate" for them to stipulate Mitie's pay levels, while Mitie refused to make any comment, saying they were currently in discussions with NAC and the GMB on the issue.
