What a glass act

AUCHENHARVIE Academy recently pulled together the resources of the school, council, local businesses and a freelance artist to produce a stunning stained glass window which they proudly unveiled on Friday.

Auchenharvie's Prinicipal Teacher in Art, Design & Technology Wendy Robertson co-ordinated the project and explained how the idea to create the window came about in November 2008 after exterior building work, following a fire, left the school's main foyer facing the bleak view of a brick wall. Securing funding from North Ayrshire Council, the art department got around 300 Auchenharvie pupils involved in designing their 'Tree of Knowledge' window from scratch.
