Major shake-up of North Ayrshire Social Services
NORTH Ayrshire Council recently agreed plans to overhaul the way they provide care services that will see independence and personal choice at the heart of the new systems.
Two separate papers were approved on Tuesday, June 21 by NAC's Executive: one on 'reshaping of care for older people' and the other on the 'personalisation strategy'.
The 'Reshaping Care for Older People: Balance of Care' report was approved in light of an increasingly older population that will see a 92 per cent increase in the number of people aged over 85 between 2008 and 2033. NAC say that older people have "repeatedly articulated their aspiration to live as independently as possible" and the new policy will seek to "optimise independence and wellbeing for older people at home or in a homely setting."
