CAMPAIGNERS SUPER-FAST WIN
MORE than 14,500 homes across Saltcoats and Ardrossan are to benefit from the next phase of the so-called 'super-fast' internet broadband network after an internet campaign.
British Telecom's local network business Openreach are driving forward plans to make quicker broadband available to two-thirds of UK homes and business by the end of 2014. Under the new system, connection speeds should double.
The two towns are among 34 locations in Scotland - and the first in North Ayrshire - to benefit. Around a year ago BT encouraged people to email them stating why their communities should be among the first to benefit from the new internet regime and a subsequent campaign run locally appears to have paid off.
