JIM SETS HIS SIGHT ON SOUTH POLE
'RUNNING Kilt' Jim Montgomerie is taking part in his last international marathon in the New Year - and heading for the South Pole.
The massive effort will see Jim airlifted in, dropped around 30 miles from the bottom of the world with seven fellow runners and then brought out by helicopter when they have completed their marathon.
The Antarctic run by the Saltcoats publican - and current North Ayrshire Citizen of the Year - will see him become a member of an exclusive club, as someone who has completed a marathon on five continents.
