FIGHTING TO RAISE VITAL FUNDS

A GROUP of local musicians traded their guitars, drumsticks and microphones for boxing gloves to raise money for a very worthy cause recently.

The dozen singers, guitarists and music promoters - calling themselves 3Rounds20clowns - joined genuine fighters at the Wossobama gym's Project Mayhem event in front of 1000 fans at Ayr's Citadel Leisure Centre on October 1 - and it turns out that they raised £1340 in the process.

The vast majority of them had never stepped in the ring before and, despite just over a month of training, put up a great show that had the crowd cheering (and laughing) over six bouts of action.
