NORTH Ayrshire Councillors' pay will be frozen next year, the Scottish Government have ruled.

Local Government Minister Derek Mackay said on Thursday he won't be acting on Holyrood committee recommendations which suggested salary changes for councillors here and across the country. An increase will be looked at for 2013/14, however.

Mr Mackay said: "The Scottish Local Authorities Remuneration Committee undertook the first fundamental review of councillors' remuneration since 2006 and I have considered their findings carefully.
