LARGE areas of the proposed site for the expanded Ardrossan Marina were cordoned off this week to warn the public - after sustaining serious damage during the recent storms.

Clydeport took the precaution of erecting tape around the two large holes - both several square metres in size - which were opened up at Montgomerie Dock by the extreme weather.

Locals have urged swift action in repairing the damage, and some said the destruction caused raised new fears about the suitability of the land behind the dock as a site for a planned major housing development.
