IN a mysterious occurance flocks of dead birds were found scattered across the Ardrossan Marina last week - and it is believed the spell of extreme weather may have had something to do with it.

Ardrossan resident Sharon Smith described how starlings have often been seen performing large synchronised displays before coming down to roost in the metal stairs near the large oil tanks at the marina.

"Since then Bill Oddie and programmes like Springwatch have made these displays popular to watch and the starlings of Ardrossan Harbour had become a bit of a feature," Sharon added.
