It was a case of history in the making for the tens of thousands that journeyed up the Clyde to get a glimpse of the QE2 on her final journey to the Clyde shipyards where she originated.

Queues of people lined up to see the last trip of the world famous vessel as it journeyed past the Cumbraes up past the Kyles of Bute to Greenock Ocean Terminal.

The QE2 passed the Solitaire ship, the biggest pipe-laying vessel in the world, on its way towards Greenock.

An incredible fireworks display brought proceedings to an end with a music spectacular as the QE2 gave a toot of approval before heading on her way into the darkness for the last time at 10pm on Sunday evening.
