EXTRA police will be patrolling North Ayrshire town centres over the Christmas period in the hope of deterring shoplifters and vandals.
The five-week police initiative began on Monday with more high visibility patrols, additional officers on the beat and the mounted branch joining community policing and road policing officers to help keep North Ayrshire trouble free.
Irvine-based chief inspector Stewart Rorrison said: 'Police officers will be working closely with North Ayrshire Council and other members of the Community Safety Partnership to ensure those visiting the area"s towns and villages have an enjoyable and crime free festive season."
