POLICE: "NO DEAD BODY WAS FOUND"

RUMOURS circulating among Stevenston residents that a dog walker had stumbled across a shallow grave containing a dead body have been quashed by police.

A man walking his dog phoned police when he was sure his pet had uncovered something sinister on December 17 at a waste ground to the rear of Highfield Drive in Stevenston.

However, police have now confirmed that there was no body at the scene and that it was merely disturbed ground.

The Stevenston resident who informed the Herald said: "Apparently a dead body was found in shallow grave and I would like to hear from the police what is actually happening because lots of people are worried."
