Former First Minister visits St Matthew’s
Former First Minister Jack McConnell MSP visited St Matthew"s Academy in Saltcoats on Friday and left deeply impressed at the ongoing commitment there to helping the school"s counterparts in Malawi.
Arran man Mr McConnell - Labour"s most recent First Minister in a career which has taken him to the very top in Scottish politics - says he thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the continuing connection between local young people and the African teenagers they will soon be working with face to face.
'This all started with the former St Michael"s Academy establishing links with Malawi, which has been a friend of Scotland for 150 years now, since the days of David Livingstone,' Mr McConnell told the Herald.
