A MAN was crushed in a horrific accident at a Stevenston building site.

The 59-year-old was critically injured while working on the site of the new Lidl store on Boglemart Street.

Following the accident last week an air ambulance was tasked to the scene and landed near Auchenharvie Academy.

The man was airlifted to a hospital in Dundee, where medics battled to save his life.

However he died on Saturday.

A post mortem was being carried out to establish the cause of death.
