GHOSTHUNTING team Ghost Hunters Scotland conducted a paranormal investigation on Saltcoats shorefront on Tuesday night in a bid to uncover the truth about the ghostly picture captured by a reader in November.
The North Ayrshire based team have carried out over a 100 investigations across Scotland and after reading about our strange picture, taken by David Kerr, they invited us along to witness their investigation.
The team use the latest technology to capture the evidence of ghostly spirits. Special recording equipment was brought along in order to capture sounds on frequencies inaudible to humans called EVPs - Electronic Voice Phenomeneon.
EMFs (Electromagnetic Field) were also part of the equipment used and these are devices that pick up electrical or magnetic pulses within the area.
Before setting out investigator Sharon McKee said: 'Although the weather conditions are quiet bad there is a good chance of picking up clear magnetic signals because there is very little electrical equipment outdoors. Things like lamps and TVs normally interfere with the equipment.'
The team, made up of investigators and sensitives, began their examinations into the haunted seafront at the exact location the ghost/ghosts were pictured. The EMFs were flashing red and when the spirts were asked to touch the machine the light was triggered. However, investigators felt street lighting could be triggering the device and a decision was made to moved onto the beach.
Mum-of-two Sharon said: 'Although the EMF was picking up signals the sensitives weren"t getting any vibes from the area. We moved to the beach and a couple of them picked up names and witnessed spirits.
'Michelle (a sensitive) said she could see a young boy, perhaps aged four walking along the beach. She was told that his name was Michael and that he drowned there years ago. She thought his parents had lost sight of him when the accident occurred. It certainly was interesting.'
Unfortunately the wind was playing havoc with the EVP machine so the team moved to the public toilets for shelter, and this was where the most convincing thing was heard.
Investigator Alex took the EVP and asked 'can you please shout as loud and as clear as you can, get out or leave.' Within seconds a very deep voice answered 'get out'.
Minutes after that the group decided that weather conditions were getting worse and called it a night. Sharon added: 'There were certainly some interesting feelings picked up among the senstives. The EMF picked up signals on the beach which couldn"t be interfered with and of course the voice on the EVP saying 'get out' was loud and clear. However, with the terrible weather conditions it would be hard to come to a conclusion.'
