PEOPLE fly-tipping in Ardrossan's Montgomerie Street better watch out because a £40,000 fine could be on the way to them.

The land behind the now derelict A & E Transport building has been used as a dumping ground for some time now.

However it seems the industrial waste is being abandoned there too with mountains of tyres and timber being left.

Another issue - youths setting the lot on fire. A couple who live nearby the site call this part of the year 'the fire time of the year'.

They told the Herald: "That area is a disgrace to the town. It's a fire waiting to happen and on several occasions we've seen it go up in flames."
