A SALTCOATS man and five of his friends endured a marathon AND climbed Ben Nevis in aid of Ayrshire Hospice.

James Mullin, 25, along with pals Kevin McLemon, father and son both named Andy Rae and father and son Gerry and Gary Tucker, all from Saltcoats, raised £600 for the charity.

After losing his grandpa four months ago and with a history of cancer in his family James and the rest of the group made a joint decision to help out the local organisation.
