Flooding hits trains

STORMY seas lashing the railway line at Saltcoats this week caused major disruption to train services.

On Thursday a train at Saltcoats was unable to complete its journey due to waves breaking over the line and was captured by one our readers.

On Sunday afternoon yet more bad weather affected services through Saltcoats with severe flooding on the line.

One commuter, who was trying to travel to Ayr, told the Herald: "I was trying to get home from work but I was told that the trains had been cancelled.

"Unfortunately I only had a short time to make my connection so I had to pay for a taxi."
