ANGRY residents on a Dalry estate are up in arms at the council's failure to grit their roads and pavements.

Members of the public on the Beechcroft Estate - which has around 95 family-size houses situated off the West Kilbride Road - say the problem was particularly bad on Sunday, which saw the worst weather of the winter so far.

"So far the council is refusing to clear the roads, citing lack of resources and manpower, despite a clear statutory duty imposed by the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984," said lawyer Joe Kiddie, who lives locally.
