Unison steps in over NAC job cuts

NORTH Ayrshire UNISON Branch union leaders have reacted with mounting concern to the council's recent letter to the workforce and press speculation about huge job losses.

Chairman Colin Turbett said: "We know that this council is among many who face grave problems as a result of last year's banking crisis.

"We await the council's detailed decisions over how they are going to square the circle with next year's budget but we are worried that they may find it hard to get enough volunteers to take redundancy."
