A FERRY war was declared this week on services going to Arran.

Western Ferries, who already sail from Gourcok to Dunoon, announced that they are to launch an Ardrossan-Brodick service to rival publicly-owned Caledonian MacBrayne's.

This will be the first challenge to CalMac's fleet in 40 years.
