Cops go on Shrek trek
A HERO policeman who once rescued a young boy from Saltcoats Harbour has been struck down by a rare illness.
To honour PC Stephen McCormick local police are taking part in a 24-hour cycle round Cumbrae after their heroic colleague was diagnosed with a rare disorder which affects the nervous system.
PC McCormick (pictured) discovered he had Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), an acute disease of the peripheral nervous system which paralyses the arms and legs and inflames them, on April 25.
