Clydesdale Bank SPL: FALKIRK 0 KILMARNOCK 1
A GLORIOUS second half goal from Craig Bryson helped Killie give their survival hopes a massive boost.
The result, which ultimately cost Falkirk boss Eddie May his job, saw the visitors soar up to ninth spot and open up a five-point gap on the hosts who moved back to the basement.
A shrewd move by the host club to cut admission prices paid off with more than 7000 fans, including 1300 from Kilmarnock, flocking to Falkirk Stadium for this drop-zone battle.
After a good opening spell Falkirk fell away as Killie got a grip of the game.
They had a great chance in 20 minutes as a Manuel Pascali header produced an acrobatic save from Robert Olejnik.
A hammer blow was dealt Killie in 31 minutes when Killie skipper had to be stretchered off afer landing badly.
But the home side felt they had claims for a penalty turned down in first half stoppage time when Carl Finnigan went down in the box under pressure from Simon Ford.
Just after the break Bryson set up on-form midfielder Liam Kelly, who shot straight at the home number one.
The breakthrough came in 58 minutes as Maguire knocked the ball inside to Craig Bryson to shoot low into the net, despite the efforts of Olejnik.
