FIRED-up Kilmarnock boss Kenny Shiels and key defender Tim Clancy are determined to end their losing record against Rangers by defeating them in Sunday's potential Clydesdale Bank SPL title decider.

The gaffer is delighted with the progress made by his team after Wednesday night's 1-1 draw at Motherwell all but guaranteed them fifth place, a year after just winning their final day relegation battle.

Shiels told Sportscene on Thursday: "When you think about where we came from last season, finishing fifth is a great achievement. It was a cracking game at Motherwell on Wednesday and I think it's encouraging that we have scored more goals (37) away from home than any team expect Rangers, that shows we have been doing well. We are of the mindset that every game is one we want to win, not because it's Rangers or Celtic or Hearts or whatever. Rangers are the only side we haven't taken points from this season but all three league games have been very close with just a goal in them and in the one we won 3-2 we had a man sent off and they got two penalties, hopefully we can get a result."

Added Clancy: "It's great we are playing such a big part in the end of the season as we were last season although obviously that was for different reasons. These are games we like to be involved in, we have had some close games with them and hopefully we can take something from this, we don't want any team celebrating title success on our patch."
