Active Nation Scottish Cup Quarter-Final: KILMARNOCK 0 CELTIC 3
SOMETIMES first impressions can be misleading and that was certainly the case when gifted Robbie Keane made his first Celtic appearance at Rugby Park last month as he was well and truly eclipsed by fellow debutant Chris Maguire.
Fast forward six weeks and an electrifying performance from the Irish targetman ensured he left an indelible impression in Ayrshire as his remarkable 18 minute second half hat-trick shattered stubborn Kilmarnock's hopes of reaching their first Active Nation Scottish Cup semi-final since they lifted the trophy 13 years ago.
The Republic of Ireland ace finally broke the home side's resistance after a hugely impressive first period which had seen them more than match their illustrious opponents just as they had against the other half of the Old Firm four days earlier. But just like against Walter Smith's men they failed to capitalise on their scoring chances although make no mistake they had the upper hand for much of the first half.
