CHAMPAGNE-soaked Ardrossan Accies coach Jim Barrie lavished praise on his players as the club enjoyed one of the finest days in their history at Memorial Field on Saturday.
Accies hammered Hillfoots 36-6 to clinch promotion to Premier Division Three for the first time in their history, just two years after winning the BT Bowl at Murrayfield
And an overjoyed Barrie said the success was the most memorable of his four-year reign with his men hoping to win the title and the National Shield still up for grabs. He declared: 'I am very proud of what my squad of players have achieved this afternoon. This is our biggest success so far and is just reward for all the blood, sweat and tears that have been shed on the training pitch at times this season as we have strove to achieve our pre-season goals.
`They are a great bunch of lads who have just got better as the season has gone on. Our only aim was to get promoted this year and we have done that with a fair bit of flair and 15-man rugby to boot.`
