Boxer George returns to ring

RETURNING to the ring after a two-year injury absence next week is Stevenston boxer George McIlroy.

The 25-year-old, whose family were the subject of acclaimed TV documentary, The Fighting McIlroys, tops the bill for the first time at the St Andrew's Sporting Club in Glasgow on Monday night.

McIlroy has been out of action since breaking his hand as he went down to defeat against Englishman Billy Smith at the Magnum Leisure Centre more than two years ago.
