THE new-look Wild team roared to a 11-4 victory over Aberdeen on Saturday night at the Linx Arena.
From the outset Wild were in full control of the game and established a commanding 6-0 lead going into the first intermission before netting a further 4 goals in the second period. Aberdeen Linx had no answer to a rampant Wild side who got there first league points of the season. Alan Maitland, Martin Cardno and Scott Brown got a brace with all Wilds goals except one coming in the first two periods.
The first period was only 5.45 mins old when Wild got their first marker on the board with a strike from Colin Henning. Then had to wait until 11.02 before adding a second from the stick of Scott Brown. Ross Jamieson added a third with a strick at 14.31 and just over two minutes later Martin Cardno made it 4-0 as he struck home at 16.46. Wild increased their lead further when Alan Maitland scored his first of the night at 18.06 which was quickly followed but goal number 6 from Mickey McAllister at 18.37.
Linx eventually managed to get the puck past Malcolm Anderson on 28.16 but there was to be no comeback for the linx after this goal as Ian Clark at 35.43, Scott Cowan at 36.38, Cardno`s second at 36.45 and Maitland's second at 37.47 wrapped up the points.
Linx changed their netminder for the third period and with the game won Wild eased off. Linx scored their second goal at 43.33 and another at 51.34 before Scott Brown scored his second of the night at 56.59. Linx rounded off the scoring with a late powerplay goal at 59.58. Maybe Linx should have changed their netminder earlier!
