Memorial Field packed for Melrose showdown

A BUMPER crowd converged on Memorial Field on Saturday as Ardrossan Accies hosted one of the most famous names in club rugby in a mouthwatering cup tie.

The Scottish Hydro-Electric Premier One leaders squared up to the North Ayrshire side in the opening match in Pool C of the Scottish Premier Division Cup.

While not expected to pull off a giant-killing Accies acquitted themselves very well and alhtough they went down 36-10 did produce some excellent rugby and really did themselves proud.
