Accies return with vengeance to field
Scottish Hydro Electric Premier Three ARDROSSAN ACCIES 15 DUNFERMLINE 0
AFTER a protracted break of some 11 weeks, rugby eventually returned to the Memorial Field when Accies entertained the men from Fife on Saturday.
An Allan Wilson kickoff started the match in atrocious conditions with a gale force wind and driving rain, a Dunfermline catch and long kick was gathered by Rodney Voullaire who drove to the half way line where referee Alistair Watt penalised him for not releasing at the tackle.
Dunfermline opted to kick to touch where again Accies were penalised for being offside, Dunfermline again kicked for position which gave them the lineout five metres from the Accies line. Stuart Lamont won the first of his several excellent takes at the lineouts and an Accies forward drive took play to the halfway line where Dunfermline conceded a penalty. On the fifth minute Accies produced a good passage of play when Robert Hunter gathered the ball and sprinted 30 metres through the Dunfermline defence before offloading to his supporting forwards, Accies were awarded a scrum, a pick up and feed from Voullaire to Wilson saw him deftly chip the ball to find touch three metres from the Dunfermline line. Accies were having the majority of possession and territorial advantage and they were unfortunate not to score when a fine break from Bruce Hunter from the base of the scrum was supported by Rodney Voullaire and Jeffrey Anderson, the ball was eventually passed to Allan Wilson whose chip and chase was denied a try when the ball was grounded over the line by desperate Dunfermline cover defence. On the 14th minute Accies opened their account when Allan Wilson kicked a penalty after Dunfermline were penalised as they attempted to stop a barging run by Innis Frazer ,whose offload to Voullaire saw him drive into the opposition 22.
