Successful trip up the coast for Accies
RBS Premier Three GREENOCK WANDERERS 16 ARDROSSAN ACCIES 17
ACCIES made the trip up the coast to play league newcomers Greenock Wanderers, it was the first time in six years that the sides had met in a competitive league match.
The visiting team showed changes to that stated in the match programme. Gordon Telfer was at No 8, Mick McFarlane was in the second row and new Kiwi recruit Anthony Flint in at 7. Mathew Grant and Scott Nimmo were still missing through injury but Jamie McKee was included on the bench after his return from New Zealand.
On a dismally wet day in constant rain Allan Wilson started the match for Accies , the Wanderers were immediately awarded a penalty and their kick to touch gave them the first line out of the match on Accies' 22. Accies came close on five minutes when Wilson's clever chip and chase crossed the line but the referee decided that the ball had not been grounded.
