World class jazz coming to Largs

In a real musical coup this month, the Largs Viking Festival has fixed up leading jazz musicians for a unique show.

For the opening concert at Barrfields Pavilion Theatre the festival will present award-winning jazz trombonist Tommy Smith with some big names from the music world.

He will be jonied by the acclaimed Arild Andersen, the European Jazz Musician of the Year in 2008 and Paolo Vinaccia who is Italy's top jazz percussionist.

Tommy himself was last year's Scottish Jazz Award winner and picked up the BBC Heart of Jazz Award in 2008.

It will be a real treat for music fans to hear these exponents combine their talents on Saturday August 29.

Tickets at £17 with £15 concession are now available from teh theatre at Largs Vikingar! Centre on 689777.
